The Message of the Book of Mormon

As I was listening to a talk given by Jeffery R. Holland, something great was brought to my attention.  He said something to the effect that, the message of the Book of Mormon is that Christ does not fail us.  He taught that this is the truth that is talked about clear throughout the Book of Mormon.  This is the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, this is the message of the Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ."  It is all about Christ.  It is in fact, the Book of Mormon is Christ's words.  The Book of Mormon teaches and testifies of Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection.  It teaches that He loves us and wants us to return back to him.  The Book of Mormon teaches the way.  It works hand in hand with the Bible.

The Book of Mormon is Christ's words.  2 Nephi 33: 10-11 reads, "And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good.  And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness."

The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ's birth.  Alma 7: 10 reads, "And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God."

The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ's life.  Mosiah 3: 5-8 reads, "For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.  And he shall cast out devils, or the evil spirits which dwell in the hearts of the children of men.  And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.  And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary."

The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ's death and resurrection.  Mosiah 3: 9-10 reads, "And lo, he cometh unto his own, that salvation might come unto the children of men even through faith on his name; and even after all this they shall consider him a man, and say that he hath a devil, and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him.  And he shall rise the third day from the dead; and behold, he standeth to judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men."

The Book of Mormon teaches the way.  Mosiah 3: 17 reads, "And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent."

I know that the Book of Mormon is Christ's words.  I know that it is a true book.  Joseph Smith was led by an angel to where the plates were hid up.  He translated them by the gift and power of God!  The book came forth by the power of God and not of man.  I know by the power and influence of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true. I know it because I have read it and prayed about it.  If we read and pray the Lord will show us it is true!  Moroni 10: 3-5 reads, "Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.  And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.  And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
