"Peace, be still."

"Peace, be still."  This is a simple phrase that the Savior used to calm the storm in Mark 4: 39.  He was awoken from his sleep in the middle of a great storm(verse38), "and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?"  He calmed the storm, and in verse 40 "said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?"  The Lord of all is willing to help us through our storms of life if we but ask Him.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Why do bad things happen to good people?   He didn't do anything wrong; why did that happen to him?  These are a couple of examples of questions that some of us have.  I have heard these a few times on my mission.  I have also heard with these the connection between problems happening to good people and the drastic assumption of there not being a God.  This is a bold and not true claim.  I will write about an example of bad things happening to good people, and how they used God to overcome.  My purpose in writing this is to help others more understand the purpose of trials in life, and that how we react to them affects the outcome of the whole experience.

Thanksgiving or Pre-Christmas?

Yesterday was Thanksgiving.  I had a ton of fun eating lots of food like I always do at Thanksgiving.  Yesterday morning before all of the food and fun, Elder Wells and I went to Walmart for a few last minute things.  It was funny to walk around Walmart on Thanksgiving with all of the Christmas things out and Christmas music playing.  Also as we drove around  town, people already have put up their Christmas lights.  It was amazing to see people already getting into Christmas before Thanksgiving was even past.

"When the Weather Outside is Frightful"

It is very snowy and cold.  The past few days it has been some negative temperatures Fahrenheit.  Sunday it was even down to -14 degrees Fahrenheit.  When it is this cold and snowy I really don't like being outside especially when it is windy.
The people I live with have a cat, its name is Leo.  He is a house cat that is determined to get outside, where he isn't allowed.  He claws at the doors and is always looking for a way to escape.  If he only knew what was outside.

An Everyday Exodus

I like this picture.  It looks like a long hard journey ahead.  Though necessary, I don't know how excited a person could be beginning this journey.  I know that if I was about to begin this journey I probably wouldn't be very excited for all that lay ahead.  We have experiences kind of like this journey everyday in our lives.  Yesterday I had one of these experiences.  I really don't enjoy walking up to people's doors and knocking on them.  Really, it is nerve racking for me.  Nobody was home and it was a little cold out.  Elder Wells and I were having no success.  We were at the end of tracting, knocking on doors, when we meet with an individual who invited us in and was interested in our great message about a man that has been called by God to be a prophet today.

Moveing

It is always hard to leave places you really love.  Packing up and moveing is challenging and not very conveniant.  As a missionary I have the opportunity to move around to different places a lot.  Sunday, I left the city of Glasgow that I really learned to love.  It was hard saying goodbye to so many friends.  I have now moved down to Billings; it will be an exciting new start.

News Report

We are so lucky to have the weather service so that we can know about the changes in weather coming up.  To see a forecast of the weather only takes a few clicks of the computer mouse.  This is handy especially when it comes to planning outings or travel.  The weather service helps us know what we are in for, and also how we need to dress so that we are prepared.  Another great thing the weather service does for us is give us warnings when extreme weather is about to happen so we can take precautions for our safety.

Roads of Life

I have traveled up and down a lot of roads, but this one caught my eye.  This road is in St. Marie, Montana.  This is a old Air Force base that has been shut down for quite a few years.  As you can tell, this road hasn't had a lot of travel on it and hasn't been kept up, and slowly it is being overrun by the grasses and weeds.

Cause and Effect

A few weeks ago I took a trip up to the Canadian border.  It was a fun experience taking pictures of the signs and looking over into another country.  It was great because I have never been outside of the United States, and seeing another country was a fun experience even though we didn't cross over.  I drove up to the border with a few good friends.  We only spent a few minutes on the border and then we decided to start the long ride back to town.  To get back on the road we had to drive through the check station.  We didn't think that it would be a very big deal because it wasn't like we crossed the boarder or anything.  We just took pictures.  Anyway, we drove through the check station and a guy came out and talked with us.  He was upset because they nor the Canadian station knew what we were doing on the border.  We didn't get permission to drive up and take pictures before we actually did.  He asked for Identification from everybody.  To make things worse, my friend, Elder Thompson, didn't have his drivers license on him.
